Joining the On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on February 19, 2025, was a dream come true for me. Ever since I was a child, I had always wanted to participate in such a competition, and this experience felt like a journey back to my past. The theme, "Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System," challenged me to express my creativity and ideas through art using an oil pastel. It was a memorable moment, not just because of the contest but also because of the people I met. I felt truly grateful for the opportunity to showcase my skills.
The competition had three parts: first was the on-the-spot drawing and coloring, where we had to create our posters within a given time. Next, we wrote a brief description of our artwork to explain its meaning and relevance to the theme. Finally, we presented our descriptions orally, which tested our confidence and ability to communicate our ideas clearly. Each segment was both exciting and nerve-wracking, but I enjoyed every moment of it. It was a great way to challenge myself and grow as an artist.
Aside from the competition, the experience itself was fulfilling. We received a tote bag and a personal notebook as souvenirs, which made the event even more special. There was also free food, which kept us energized throughout the day. What made it even more memorable was our coach, Ma’am Jingky Alonzo, who treated us to Jollibee after the contest. Looking back, this experience will always hold a special place in my heart, reminding me of my childhood dream and how far I’ve come.
